Hair still falling out after carboplatin and Gemcitabine

After my second line chemo regime of carboplatin and Gemcitabine with Avastin ongoing I am still experiencing hair loss nearly two months after finishing the chemo.

Is this normal??

Hi hope,im on same regime 3rd line.yes very disappointed as half way through my hair is thinking.however no baldly patches. Too nervous to retouch my roots,incase i encourage loss. Onc reassured my thanks. This is normal i wont lose it. Maybe your hair loss should start to settle now.chemo remains working a while after treatment.xx terrie

Sorry to hear that. My hair just thinned on that regime and then started getting thicker again fairly soon.

My hair thinned from Gemzar very badly first time but second time around not too bad, it is now strenghening. I use plenty of conditioner keep away from the Aussie ones because they make your hair more wiry.

Thank you for your replies! I think I am just frustrated because my onc told me I would not lose my hair on these drugs. Lost all hair on first round of carbo taxol but was expecting that! Seeing him next week so will ask why I am still shedding hair! Nearly bald again!!!

I know its more upsetting for it to fall out when you are not expecting it and havent a plan in place. I had to buy a wig towards the end of my treatment in 2010 with Gem and Taxol. But I put it down to stress as my sons partner had a dreadful pregnancy and her twins born at 26 weeks didnt live. I suppose its different for everyone but frustrating never the less.

My hair thinned a little on this regime. But not much also came back thicker and straighter.
