I just finished 16 weekly treatments of those two , only 4 of the 16 were carboplatin, one every 4th treatment. Very few side effects, hemoglobin was low near the end but I got through it without a transfusion. Last treatment Oct 8, have enough hair to go without hat or wig. One week after treatment ended I developed a blood clot between ankle and knee , it was managed with blood thinners. Good luck with it!

Oh Ally, I'm sorry that's not a good Christmas present. I shall be finding out what the plan is on 16 February but they've mentioned Caelyx and Carbo-platin.

I was going to ask about Taxol having read the newspaper announcement that NICE is considering taking Paclitaxol off their list of approved drugs. Is it like Wales with you that the Scottish Government can pick and choose which NICE approved drugs they fund?

I've just got this funny picture of us all getting addresses in all corners of the UK to get the best treatment.

I hope the weekly taxol works for you. I'd imagine it can be tiring to have to go to hospital every week, but at least you won't have to spend the whole day there. Not sure how I'd manage travelling weekly from Cardiff to London but if that's what's recommended I'll get on with it and ask them to do the bloods the same day as the chemo or it really would be a nightmare.

Sending loads of love and hugs. xxx Annie

Had weekly taxol from last new years eve (!) To mid June ...hair thinned but didn't lose it ....apart from fatigue it has all been dealable with ...still here after fourth "go" to keep the bugger in check ...big grey curly hair now !

My very best wishes to you that all goes well .

so sorry to hear you are facing into another round with this illness, I had carbo taxol first time around but every three weeks, my thing would be to keep on top of the constipation and have prunes or pear juice to help you along with the movicol senna etc if you need it, because sometimes it can go either way. I am off this week but back to Avastin on the 8th after getting a four week break due to Xmas. Sending you best wishes

Will be having my final weekly Taxol on Saturday. Am tired now, & have lost quite a lot of my hair, though still have some. I wear a hat or scarf when I go out at the moment. Not much else in the way of side effects. I was prescribed anti sickness at the beginning but don't need them. Hope all goes well for you.
