Hello ladies so sorry I haven't been on here for a while I do read all your posts as they come through on my phone but its hard to write replies on my phone.
Ive been working very hard very busy and doing more hours. So I am very tired at the moment. I hope every one is well And keeping all the hard work going.
I wanted to ask if any one had ever had A hernia due to hysterectomy surgery?
Ive been told that i have got an umbilical hernia attached to my colon. As you can imagine I have been worried about this. Its going to have to be dealt with via surgery. This is very un- welcomed news. I see the consultant on the 18th November so will know more by then.

Yes I have an incisional hernia but I have not had fixed.... I was told (that in my case) it would be big operation that isn't always successful...so I left it ...and now having had a recurrence (twice) I have bigger fish to worry about. (I haven't had too many problems with it) there are quite a few people though that's had an operation that has been successful...so I guess it depends on individual cases.
Sorry you are having to face this... and I hope you will get it sorted soon.

Do you get any pain from your hernia? I think they want to remove mine because of it being attached to my colon. I would much rather leave it but ive been having a few bowel problems and they think that may be why and they said it may get worse .
I must be honest my hernia doesn't give me any trouble (I do have my bowel poking through it) but I try very hard not to make it worse (no lifting etc) but like I say it is the least of my problems having had three tumours on my bowel (one wrapped around the rectum) and at present on chemo.
If I were you I would take the advice of the surgeons as they know best what they are up against.
Good to hear from you Suzanne though I'm sorry that you have to have surgery for your hernia. Still, as Gwyn says, the surgeons probably know best and it will be better in the long run to have it sorted. I hope you will get your questions answered on the 18th.
I'm very well thanks Suzanne. My neighbour's cat is keeping me company at this moment. She's enjoying peace and quiet before the fireworks start again this evening. She hates fireworks!!
Hi Mary... my neighbour's cat comes in sometimes. Lately, he's been scratching and has lost his flea collar. Anyway, my hubbie got bitten on the ankle last night... so he's had to buy some spray. We've never heard of that kind of thing before and the poor thing looked so disheartened when he couldn't come in today... he just trundelled off home down the path but we can hardly buy him a collar... I don't think that would go down well! We love him though and would adopt him if we could. Love Tina x x
Hi Suzanne I also have an incisional hernia and only very rarely do I get any symptoms. Never had anyone mention anything about surgery, think I would rather leave it be, but you must, as the others say, follow your doctors advice. Love Ann xx
Hi Suzanne.. I had an incisional hernia repaired years ago but then developed another one just above my navel two years ago. My surgeon had said that it was best left and because I didn't like myself in most of my clothes, I made a decision to give them away and to sell some on Ebay ... which I did. I only got £48 for four dresses but it was a new experience using the site. Two weeks later, I had an acute episode when my surgeons thought I had a strangulated hernia which turned out to be something else. Anyway, he fixed the hernia whilst he was at it. I was joking about it to the District Nurse and she said it was an excuse to buy some new ones. Love Tina x x
Not exactly - I had a knot of scar tissue just above my navel that is beginning to ease four years after surgery. It was and at times still is very sore, but I've learned to live with it. Good luck with the surgery. Vx
Hi Suzanne, I had two incisional hernias repaired almost 10 weeks ago. I was in a lot of discomfort before they were repaired and looked very pregnant. Not good at my age!
I'm pleased that I had the op and although I still occasionally have some slight discomfort from the surgery I feel it's been well worth it.
Hi you hope you get sorted soon, like you I struggle to reply or post as often as I did when I was off work but everything's a balancing act, it's good knowing everyone is here even though we can't "chat" often. Big hugs Amanda

I developed a hernia after my op and had it repaired because it was uncomfortable. It seemed to swell up throughout the day. I was warned that it's not always successful, but so far so good. It wasn't very nice being cut open again, but I soon healed up. Glad I had it done. Hope all goes well with yours. Chris x x
Apparently hernias after ops are quite common. I had an emergency op ( bowel was at risk) for incarcerated hernia (this was excruciatingly painful - worse than childbirth) 4 days after op on abdominal lymph nodes. Open surgery removed all the benefits of laparascopic and it really did take at least 6 weeks to recover and is still not there. The first surgeon commented that this was the first time they'd had a hernia from the particular port mine was. My impression from the small amount of research I did was that most hernias aren't emergencies and don't necessarily need surgery. And, as someone else says, surgery's not necessarily successful and they can recur. I'd want to know HOW the surgery would be done. My old man had one done laparascopically. If your work involves lifting, you'll have a problem whether it's open or laparoscopic. Hope you find out more on the 18th.
