Hi Hayley

When I was treated at first I had my chemo delayed for this reason - both for the last 2 cycles as the build up of chemo can take it out of you. Mine were also less than 1 (I think it went as low as 0.7) but they just waited for them to climb naturally - I think the entire delay was 2 weeks and the oncologist said this was not a significant delay - some people are worse affected.

In terms of picking up infections - you probably know the drill - avoid people in crowds - public transport, be vigilant with washing your hands - especially before eating and stick to cooked foods - don't trust salads from restuarants etc as you don't know how thoroughly they've been washed. It's hard but try not to worry too much. And check your temperature regularly - I had a temp the other week and ended up in hospital on antibiotics ( I'm on chemo again too).

wishing you all the best and healing thoughts

Hi Hayley

Like Kerry I too had low neurophill readings for the last 2 cylces ( 0.8 ) chemo was delayed by nearly 2 weeks each time and the levels were allowed to increase naturally. I was worried but was told it was absolutely fine to delay treatment. You do need to take care not to put yourself at risk of infection but its only for a short time. Washing hands and using anti-bacterial hand cleaner (always in my bag ) seemed to work for me.The delays didnt seem to affect the chemo as my CA125 levels came right down as planned.

Good luck and all the very best to you

I also experienced delays with the carboplatin - easily two weeks delay just about every time. My main concern was that the treatment would not be as successful as a result but on that occasion I need not have worried as my CA125 came right down anyway and the post chemo scan was clear! So take heart! Pauline
