after my last ct scan the tumor of my primary pritoneal implant metastase reduced its size from 6 to 4.4

i had another 6 cycle of combination drug avastin+ gemzar+carboplatine and i have my second ct scan on the 7th. hope getting good news.

what is the difference between recurence and metastase knowing that i had a total surgery 2011 for my ovaries . my primary peritoneal implant ( metastase) 2012?

what does it means about a tumor reduced ?

is there possibility to be totaly cured after a metastase or a life threatning ?

i know im asking a lots of questions , it is simply because im worried.!!!!

on the 13 th i have my appointment with my onco to see what is the new procedures should be taken ( surgery , chemeo treatment or anything else i do not know what is expecting me next week ).

kiss you all

tarouza.

Hi Tarouza,

A recurrence is the reemergence of tumors in the primary (original) site...Metastasis is where the cancer travels to distant sites in the body.....if the tumor has reduced then it just means it has got smaller ....if a cancer has Metastasise or Recurred even though it might not be curable it doesn't mean it is the end... as there are a lot of treatments that can prolong the outcome... Best wishes love x G x

As G has said even if your cancer has metastasised it can still be treated, I am on my second line now and getting good results my ca125 down by half after one carbo./paxi /taxol dont worry new things are happening all the time, try to be positive, and I hope all goes well for you lots of love Jenny xxx

Hi there .. Just to add, when you have chemo, there are four possible outcomes .. Full response ... where it looks like the c has gone away, a partial response, where the disease has shrunk .. I think it has to have done so by 50 p c but not quite sure of the percentage for the term to be applied, stable disease where it goes to sleep for an indeterminate period or no response. A patient can have a partial response which is stable meaning the c is not doing anything at the end of treatment or virtually anything anyway. I have PPC which is not curable in my case and many other cases but the treatment helps by aiming to keep it all at bay and by making a patient more comfortable. I think that reduced disease means that it's shrunk but whether this is classified under percentages as a partial response, I don't know . I'd be interested to know that myself. My own disease was said to be reduced at the end of treatment. It's started growing again, but I'm waiting for the ascites to build up before starting treatment apparently. X
