After surgery.....

Hi everybody

After 4 rounds of chemo for stage 3/4 OC, I had uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and part of omentum removed last Monday - I was told that the liver, spleen and bowel might be also affected. I was overjoyed when I was told there was no evidence any more of cancer in these organs, as the chemo (Taxol/Carboplatin )had killed the disease). So, I am officially disease free! Some more chemo later in the year is scheduled I think.

I am home from hospital since Saturday and I am in quite a bit of pain which I expected, but what I wasn't expecting was to experience the severe cramping and nausea that has kicked in the last few days. Has anybody else experienced these symptoms? If anyone has, do you have advice on how to manage this?

Hi, great news. As you only had 4 doses of chemo I would expect you to have at least another two maybe in a month's time to complete the treatment.

I too remember cramping following surgery. Your body has to adjust to the removal of all the bits. I just took paracetamol for the pain. I don't remember any nausea though. Hopefully it will settle soon.

Hi Ann

Yes, the surgeon said the onc would probably schedule at least another 2 chemos.

Seems to be settling a bit today - thankfully!

Great news I had a similar op and the pain and cramping will settle your body has been through the mill, takes a few weeks to adjust. Hope you feel better soon xox

I have to agree with the other ladies, your body does take time adjust after surgery. You are sore, inside and out and you are not supposed to lift anything more than a cup of tea!!!! If you are constipated which is common after that operation, you could be sickly due to that. Just take things easy it is very early days yet and your body will settle down in time. if not go and see your gp. Sending your best wishes
