Patient Coffee Morning - Cork, Sat 5th April

Hi all, we've just finalised the date of our next patient coffee morning - it's Sat 5th April from 11am - 1pm at the usual location in the Clarion Hotel, Cork City. We hope many of you can make it again and as always we welcome any newcomers also.

Hi kittie, we are planning to have a 'virtual coffee morning' shortly. Let us know if you're interested? You can join in while sitting at your kitchen table! All you'll need is a phone. Will be open to OvaCare members and limited to max 8 participants....more details to follow

HI Kittie - a great morning coffee get together and beautiful cupcakes with iced teal bows brought by one member - they were yummee!!!!. The main points of course was Avastin and the use/availability of immunology treatments for OC. Lots to find out on this of course. Have to say that everyone looked fantastic, but I am probably biased. Went out to lunch afterwards, then watched & lost my bets on Grand National and finally got home at 5pm. Glut of lemons and energy then so made lemon curd - I love it on hot toast. So much for cutting back on sugar. Hope all well with you and that you will be able to attend the Patient Day later this year. Take care, Daisies

Hi Kittie, sorry you are so far away from us here in Cork but maybe there could be an information day or coffee morning in Dublin that you could make. That is a good idea for a virtual coffee morning for those who are unable to attend events. When we are on treatment, we dont really get to know those who are in the same boat as ourselves as the chemo unit is used for all types of cancer. It is nice to meet up and swap side effects and you dont feel so much on your own with this illness. Good news down here is that the Avastin is doing the trick. Long may it last. I really appreciated this morning and was definitely in a better place physically and mentally than I was in November last. Thanks to Ovacare for organising the event and also a huge thanks to the lady who brought the cup cakes.

Hi, just by chance i came across Ovacare and the coffee morning you had in Cork. I really just wanted to say that my wife (Christina) was orignally from Cork (Ballyphehane) and she met me way back in 1969 when she came over to England for a 'working summer'.

We went back to Cork so many times over the years and her family still live in Ballyphehane and myself and our daughters are visiting the 'family' next month.

Christina was diagnosed with high grade Serous OC in Nov 2010 and sadly died on Aug 6th 2013. My best wishes go out to you all and your families.....take care. Laurence

Hi Laurence, so sorry to hear of you loss. it has obviously been a tough few years for you and your daughters. Glad you are keeping up with the connections over here. It is important for you and your family. OC is a horrible disease, just when you think you can relax, it tends to creep back again into your life.
