Hi just some advice please. I had a iliostomy in April and now am waiting for a total collectomy operation in August. My main problem now is I am constantly tired. I can't wake up in morning and feel more tired when I wake up. I ache all over especially pelvis. Right buttock and Leg. And feel really low and can't be bothered to do anything. I have no patience and just want to be left alone
Any advice ??
The first thing my surgeon did when I Cameron's from the operation was to prescribe anti depressants. Aside from the physical aspects, the psychological trauma of learning to live with a stoma and bag is huge. I know some people are against taking anti depressants but for me they were a godsend.
I had a total Ileostomy Sept 13 and every day is a nightmare and its the blasted tiredness daily does my head. Ive had so many test and nothing shows up. I also suffer loads of chest infections.
I had to have a colostomy in November 2014. Went in for a day case gall bladder op ended up being put in a induced coma and having 10 ops,I was in hospital 5 weeks.Through medical negligence they cut my bowl twice. It was a shock to get used to bags and I tried my best to be positive. Even now everything is an effort tired all the time,can't be bothered. I am currently seeing a therapist which is helping. Try speaking to your doctor see if they can help x
I get awful pain under stoma like a terrible stitch when I walk. Any one else get this ??
Do you have a Stoma nurse that you can see? It could be something as simple as the hole in the bag is too small/too big. X
Hi I'm sorry to hear you are so tired I know how you feel. I had my surgeries the opposite way round and had colectomy with ileopouch construction in 2008 and recently had ileostomy. I can only suggest to keep moving and doing things as the less you do the more tired you will feel and don't forget to go out for pleasure as you will feel better for it. How are you sleeping? As low quality sleep can make you feel tired. I would also speak to your GP and/or your stoma nurse for advice. Sorry I couldn't offer better advice.
