my son is just over 4 weeks old and I am breastfeeding and sometimes topping up with formula. There are time where I feed him breast on and off for a few hours and he is still crying so I top him up with formula where he has the full 5 ounces ! This is meant to be a top up but he's drinking as much as you would if you were just on formula !he then has times where he still has his hands in his mouth showing a feeding cue which I do not understand as he has eaten so much. Would you advice on giving him more food if he asks for it or is there something else he needs that im missing :( he can be like this for a few hours and he's crying the whole time! Please can I have advice

Good Morning Firstbabyhelp ,

I think it would be useful if you give Just One Number a call so we can chat through feeding.

It is really important to keep offering the breast but it is also worth checking how baby is latching and how your breasts feel after a feel etc.

Were you advised to top up with formula?

In the meantime, have a look at the following links: justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/healt...

In meantime call 0300 300 0123 to chat with one of the team and they can arrange a feeding assessment for you if needed.

Best Wishes,

Rachel
