I have had lung cancer, was misdiagnosed for a year and a half , had a Lobectomy but now I have been left with multiple problems one of which is a large hernia. I have had reflux for year's but for the last 5 month's I wake up in the middle of the night coughing , my throat burns and then I'm sick....a lot but it's burning fluid and there's a lot and this will go on for an hour and leaves me with a very sore throat, a chesty cough and a very sore stomach. Does anybody here have this where there is a huge amount of burning liquid which eventually turns yellow? I have no help from our hospital and have no faith in them anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you and keep safe.

Hi. I take Lansoprazole and Gaviscon Advance and have just started taking Famotidine at night. I have 3 pillows and the bed slightly raised and don't like spicy food. Have had reflux for year's and started off with Omeprazole but the Dr. now has me on the above. The acid sickness has got so bad that I'm scared to go to sleep and I don't know where all that fluid comes from ! I have a large hernia and Diverticulitis and adhesions and IBD plus having gone through lung cancer. Thank you for replying. Am off to phone the Dr....again! Take care.

Best wishes,

Danni

Hi Danni sounds terribly painful, you’ve got the chronic reflux.I really think your G.P. should be sending you for an endoscopy ASAP .

Have you looked at other meds you are on ?maybe they could be causing the reflux.

You really can’t go on like this, they need to investigate. I do hope you get someone to help. Xx

Hi danni totally get what your saying as I have the very same happening to me , I do put a wet cold flannel around my neck as this helps with the hot soreness I also take a locket to sooth my throat, after a bout of acid reflux I do almost sit unright but very tired, as you have to Wait until all the yellow/ orange mucuse comes up I know it sounds awful and it is !!! You then can sleep a little , this has become part and parcel of our lives .

Hi. Thank you so much for replying though I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this as well. It's so horrible isn't it? You are so right about how tiring it is especially when it goes on and on. Have you had a diagnosis? I worry that it's changed from reflux where my gut burns and being a little bit sick to this bucketfuls of sickness with so much fluid where it goes from clear to yellow. It's so gross and painful and the retching hurts my stomach and my operation site from where I had the top lobe of my right lung taken out. I will try the wet flannel and get some locket's. I read somewhere that chewing mint gum can help. Haven't tried that yet! Take care and please let us know how you get on.

All the best,

Danni

Hi danni I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus 10 years ago and I had a Ivor Lewis operation to remove my oesophagus and then a pull up tummy , you get know your limits but things are ok I would rather put up with dumping syndrome than the acid reflux, I still attend my local hospital and get to try different medications but it seems that some of us make more acid than others ,

Hi Danni like hunsdon I too had this op a year ago and have had the same issue your experiencing and of all the problems I feel this is the worst. The sleeping sat up , gaviscon dual action last thing, making sure your bladder is empty and taking a sip of water when it happens has all helped me. I also take lansoprazole 30mg at 8am and 5pm. The burn and cough is awful, hopefully you can sift the advice and find what works for you good luck and take care

Hi. Thank you so much. I take Lansoprazole in the morning but the Dr. said that I shouldn't take 2 a day so I have Famotidine at night and Gaviscon. I haven't had the operation which you have had and the Gastroenterologist has given up on me after telling me that I have a " thickening in the Colon and a Polyp " and it might be cancer. He gave up on me because they tried to do a Sigmoidoscopy but couldn't and he made out that I hadn't done the enema stuff properly . I have been told that my Colon doesn't work normally because of the Opioid's and the Oramorph but he doesn't care and is so offhand. Our Gastroenterology department doesn't have a good reputation! Do you get scared when you are being sick ? I have had acid for year's but this is on a different level with so much burning fluid. It worries me a bit after the lung cancer. My Dr. is phoning tomorrow. Thank you again and I hope that you get help for your problem. Take care and keep safe.
