Early Satiety

Hello everyone. For about two months now, I feel full after eating very little--about three spoons of rice. Water doesn't help. I have appetite. I'm not bloated. No nausea, no regurgitation, no vomiting--the food just stays in my stomach and makes me uncomfortable for several hours. Sometimes I feel as though I can't breathe properly.

I have gone to the hospital five times. The first time I went there, the doctor prescribed omeprazole and an antacid; he said I have acid reflux. The second and third time, he advised me to continue using the drugs and advised me to train my esophagus, since I told him sometimes I feel I have to wash food down with water. He also told me that if the symptoms continued after five days, he would recommended a barium swallow test.

I went back and had the barium swallow test last Thursday. He said the result was okay and told me to finish using the drugs. Then he added antibiotics to treat ulcer.

The symptoms haven't improved. I'm losing weight. I don't know what to do next. Most hospitals in the city I live in aren't operating because of Covid 19. Please any help I get here will be appreciated. I'm a 30-year-old male.

Olay.

Sounds like you have a problem with your pyloric valve, which is preventing your stomach from emptying properly. The only way to be sure is to have a gastroscopy. The treatment usually involves either a stretch or minor surgery. Suggest you talk to your GP.

Hello I feel for you. It's very depressing. I live in the UK and yes same here only emergencies so I've got to wait to GI hopefully now August. Look, I have the same problem exactly. I have oesophagitis and gastritis and hiatus hernia. However I do have some motility issues in oesophagus which has never been an issue but now I only have to eat a little and it is soooooo tight like pressure all around my middle under my ribs. However I am on a lot of medications and I've read this isnt gas but it's a brain gut thing and i believe my tablets have caused delayed stomach emptying peristalsis . I cant say for sure. I'm worried I've something wrong also and I'm female. It's so bad by evening i dont know which way to lie for ages. I'm on bad meds which also if i try and stop will mean i wont sleep for days and can get panic attacks even seizures. Theyve also caused slow bowel transit so it's the whole of my digestive system . Try try and eat as much veg fruit as you can . I dont get nausea. It is making me so frustrated cos like you they wont see me yet. I am on esomaprazole and Ranitidine and Gaviscon which dont stop pain . In the end I recently paid to have a private consultation with another GI and he has tested me by a kit sent to my home for SIBO. But it was negative so I'm back to square one. He also said why am I on the PPIs and said he doesnt think I should take them anymore but again he cant do any tests etc until the NHS are back to normal. This COVID has caused many people like you and me to have to worry .

Dont give up. See a good GI when you can. It's so frustrating. If you lose more weight cos you're hardly eating you MUST speak to a GI or your GP. I have been in pain on eating and now dont go to A and E as I know they wont want to know. However I was told by a nurse if I start to lose weight I must tell my doctor. I send you my best wishes from the UK and really feel for you. Dont give up you're not imagining things.

Hello, thanks for your reply. I hope soon you will get the correct treatment and your symptoms would be gone.

I have finished using the tablets my GP (private) gave me, for ulcer, and there's no improvement. So ulcer isn't the cause. I don't want to go back to him again; I have to see a GI. I try to eat fruits but can only eat a little. Except water, I can only consume a little of any food.

I'm losing interest in everything I do. I wish I could survive without food.

Thanks, Basten.

Yes my appetite has decreased . I get sooo tight all around me and it hurts to breath in sometimes. I try to eat little and often but it doesnt help much. Worse by evening . We will all get it sorted hopefully when the hospitals can see us again but it's so painful and frustrating. Thankyou
