Hello, I'm trying to understand why my symptoms are increasing and not improving and hoping someone may shed some light on my issues. Im a 49y female who was dx with gastritis and mild reflux with a little imcompetent lower oesophageal sphincter in 2014, in 2018 I had and still have normocytic anaemia so was sent for an OGD still have gastritis and billary reflux. I have continued to take 30mg lansaprozle for the last 6 years until recently I am taking double that because I have this horrible burning in my stomach and feel like there is something stuck in my throat, I'm coughing trying to clear it and pain in my right upper stomach area. I have wind bubbles in my throat and chest also now. I dont know what to do. My GP is only taking telephone appointments and I dont feel like I should be bothering them at this time. Is there anything else I can do. Thank you for reading.

Please contact your GP if you are worried. You are NOT bothering them, in fact they are probably quieter than normal and a telephone conversation would put your mind at rest.

I can't comment on your symptoms as I had reflux etc due a hiatus hernia which is under control.

Good luck.

I would call gp office, explain the situation and have the gp set you up with a gastro consult or a endo. Nothing to fool around with. It could just b gerd , or gas or acid, or it can b worse. Remember, early intervention is the best defense. Good luck and let me know how you made out !

As advised by others please contact GP and persist for Gastrointestinal referral at the hospital for further treatment.

Long term prazole group medicines, PPI's are more harmful than resolving the root cause issues.

A lack of iron in diet with 60mg prazole is possibly a clear indication of the side effect.

A lax sphincter can not be fixed by medicines, root cause fixtures can be facilitated by either surgery or linx band. Also see OPA website foe more details on these.

Ask GP and GI consultant for root cause fix for the issue as the daily symptom management has been going for too long.

Good luck

As others have said you must talk with your GP. Diet, medication or other may need reviewing. I had phone consultS with GP and my gastro surgeon last week. Easy. Sat at home and waited for phone call. No travel. No waiting room. Doctors less hassled. Best wishes.

Hi there yes I would speak to the dr don’t forget they keep telling us people are staying away with potential life threatening illnesses. You are not a nuisance and should really have an endoscopy asap.

It maybe you need further medication for your condition.

Best wishes

Debbie

Update.

Gp has phoned and said that in 2014 I had bile in my stomach from my gallbladder which should not be in my stomach and asked what the hospital doctor said. I never even saw a doctor was just given a print out of the camera report and told to continue with meds.

She has said I need bloods done and is referring me for an urgent appointment but has no idea how long that will take at this present time. Im very happy with that. I dont though understand what my gallbladder has to do with. I thought gastritis was an inflammed stomach.

At my endoscope 2018bi had gastritis oesophagitis hiatus hernia still and ...bile too in stomach but my gp said that is not unusual. I dont have a gallbladder tho. My pain is inbetween my shoulder blades and it lasts for hours some days and travels all through me down to my middle back. I also have slow bowel transit. Unfortunately they wont see anyone for tests or procedures emergencies only. My appointment was March..

.now its August and I pray they wont cancel again. It's so unfair on all of us suffering and stuck.

Update

I’m in a terrible state with my stomach. I’m being sick, my throat is so sore because it’s always got acid in it. I’m just so distressed with it I can’t get on with anything. I’m off my food, I could go on and on. I had a telephone consultation with the gastroenterologist who said he will need to look at my gullet first, he will be performing a nasal endoscopy. Probably November because there is only him who does them. Upped the esmprazole to 120mg daily. It’s not helping. I can’t cope any longer what am I supposed to do till November. Sorry for the rant.
