Hi everyone my husband Peter was at hospital yesterday to see consultant his operation is now the 23rd march and not the 16th they told him that the cancer hasn't shrunk at all but it hasn't grown eather I just wonder if anyone else has had chemo and it hasn't changed the cancer we really thought it was shrinking as he has days when he can eat like a horse thanks for reading this post

My partner had T3N1 and had 3 round os ECX chemo. The chemo had no effect at all on his tumour. The operation was done on the 17th Noverber 2017 and he has been doing quite well.

So do not panic (which I know is hard to do)

Thanks for your reply the thing is he was throwing up at every mouthful and then on his second cycle chemo he started to eat now hes back to being sick not as much just sometimes so we felt his cancer was shrinking so when they told him no change it was a bit of a shock I think worry about it all the time I know it's not going to alter the situation but just carnt help it

Focus on the fact that it hasn't grown further since the chemo. General comparison could be irrelevant at tines and small small victories should be thoroughly enjoyed to keep and sustain healthy mindset. Each day at it's own merit.

On average if most days good then you are winning.

Mine only shrunk a little when I had convinced myself it had virtually gone,the thing to hold onto is that it hasn't grown which it would have done without the chemo.

As for worrying I'm afraid thats inevitable

I had three cycles of ECX chemotherapy, at the end of which my pre-op CT scan showed no reduction in the size of the tumour. That was in 2007. I thought that they now scanned patients after two cycles to see if the chemo is working and, if not, went straight to surgery.

Well no they gave him 3 cycle and the ct scan showed no change so now he is on his 6 week rest before he gets his operation just hope there is no growth in the 6 weeks

My chemo didn’t change size either but i was able to eat more by end strange. Op went ahead 16th March 2016 had chemo after still. Leading a new normal life . My op date changed due to dr’s on strike. Frustrating but glad it went ahead, some people don’t get the op. Wishing him well.

My hubby had 4 rounds of FLOT and swallowing is now easier. When we saw the surgeon he said that his tumour did not appear to have shrunk much at all. He did also say though that some of it could now be scar tissue rather than tumour but he won't know until he operates on 17th March. It is so hard to not worry about it growing whilst they wait for surgery. Sending you both my very best wishes for the surgery and beyond.

Thank you. we are focusing on the fact that it hadn't grown and getting his body as prepared as possible. He has been managing 10,000 steps a day and regular breathing exercises. Keeping everything crossed that this will help his recovery.
