Any knowledge helps ...

I had my gastroscopy and colonoscopy and the gastroscopy showed normal, that my stomach and oesophagus and everything was fine. My colonoscopy showed that i have about 5 polyps and several ulcers in my colon. Does anyone know what this means? A general surgeon did my colonoscopy so he doesn’t know what it means, and i can’t find a doctor who’s willing to help me understand. My bowel habits are still so weird with so much mucous and mixed between constipation and diarrhoea. Is anyone dealing with something similar?

The doctor told me what he found, but he wasn’t sure what it meant because it’s not his specialising area. I’ll go to my doctor and get a referral to someone who’ll know. Thank you so much for the support, i really appreciate it xxx

That's a big statement that general surgeon doesnt know!!

Perhaps they are waiting in lab results on the biopsies they taken on the polyps. Having said that its standard protocol to do biopsy and depending upon lab being busy its could take few weeks before they can share any information. Again if nothing serious then you may not hear anything back too.

Speak to your consultants secretary for further information on what info they are waiting.

He specialises in an entire different area but told me he could do the colonoscopy for me because i was seeing him for something else at the time and i asked if that was related to my symptoms. I have to go through another doctor for them to tell me what the results mean. You’re right about the biopsy, they took biopsies of the ulcers and it will take a while to get back to me.

Thank you, i’ll ask my doctor about next steps

Alright. At least you have got the copies done and evidence of it on the report as well biopsies being investigated.

You would just need referral to speak to specialist in regards. If you ask GO for it or if you have access to GI secretary this can work out good by the time your lab tests come back to dept.

Stay calm and avoid excessive stress, that also affects your digestion significantly.

Good luck.
