Awaiting diagnosis of Acid Reflux or worse.

Hi, I’ve recently been put on a dose of Lansoprazole as had a bit of heart burn and acid indigestion on and off for a couple months. Didn’t think anything of it then woke up one morning with a sore throat which subsided after drinking tea or a hot drink in the morning.

Anyway since the Lansoprazole I’ve no longer had sore throat but have developed a further symptom of stomach bile and blood which is cleared from my throat each morning. I’m not coughing this up I’m kind of forcing the issue to clear my gullet.

I’ve not had acid heartburn since, I have a bloated stomach on occasions with stomach cramps that come and go.

I’m due an endoscopy within the next month or so. I went back to the doctors today and my Lansoprazole has now been split 15mg in the morning and 15mg at night an hour before bed. Will try this from tomorrow.

Apart from this being extremely scary I’d just like to know if the blood and bile each morning is normal? I appreciate the endoscopy is key to correct diagnosis however I’m doing my self in with worry.

I’m also a type 2 diabetic so juggling diet is a challenge.

Any guidance on diet or assistance to stop the reflux after sleeping would be appreciated?

I have a wedge pillow which I find uncomfortable.

I have Barrets esophagus which was found 3 years ago the endoscopy is not the best thing to have but you can have a local anaesthetic that is what IGo for.Please don't worry its best to find out what the problem is .I have made changes to my eating and keep a list of foods that upset me .I hope all goes well for you

Thank you for your reply, it’s a struggle working it all out.

I’m going to do my best to stay positive and try and focus on a better diet, I’ll lose a bit of weight and see where that gets me.

I’m just wanting to get the camera inspection done so they can maybe see what’s going on. I’m sure further tests will follow afterwards.

I’m going to keep a list also and hopefully weed out the culprits.
