As Mark Twain said The reports of my impending death are greatly exaggerated Just went to see the ENT specialist and he said EVERYTHING IS CLEAR I said how do you explain this then and showed him the encologist letter. He was visibly shocked and said he knew nothing about it. He read the X-ray report to me and the barium swallow report ..no problems. He said you would not be referred to encologist without biopsy or endoscopy So he is going to get to the bottom of it and phone me on my mobile. So incredibly releaved but not getting out the longer box-sets just yet until we find out who referred me.We suspect a blunder! I still have the throat problem and coughing blood albeit small amounts for 2 months. My heart really goes out to you brave people battling with this awful illness and for a short time I have shared your anguish and had to prepare myself and I’m not counting my chickens just yet and bearing in mind my family history of the disease .......

Following my oesophagectomy, due to losing my right leg below the knee, caused by chemo related clot. I had to move into a bungalow. My doctor said that I would have to find a new doctor, because, as I would be be needing home visits and end of life care. My daughter is still with that doctor. Last year she happened to mention me to him. He said "what, is he still alive? I thought he would be dead by now" a few months later she had to visit the practice nurse. She too was amazed to hear I was still alive. I just passed my 5 years post op. Although I still suffer aspiration of bile and acid and wake up choking, I am still very much alive. I have even put on a lot of weight. The incident has caused my daughter a lot of worry. She phones me every day to make sure I am OK. So Mark Twain is not the only one to be presumed dead.

Happy and healthy New year to all members.
