That's good news. If the operation is an Ivor Lewis then it's a big one! If your husband can get as fit as possible beforehand it will really help with his recovery.

Good luck! Keep in touch.

Don't know what the name of the operation is but we will ask all we know is they cut part of the oesophagus away and part of the stomach then rejoin them together they said it was a big operation

All the best, tell

Him to do as much waking and eating as he can before the operation.

That’s great.for each of my cycles I used to be very ill for a few days then a little better but fragile for the 2nd week and the third week I was fine. In the build up to the op I ate as much as I could to put weight on and got myself fit at the gym. And had to do a lot of breathing exercises to get my lung capacity up. I had spent the 20 years previously sitting behind a desk. That six weeks I swam and worked out most days or walked a lot did a few short breaks I had thought about but not done. Tried sky diving, zip lining, had great fun and was amazing fit for the op. Good luck

As the others have said if he can get as fit as possible before the op it will be a very big help to his recovery afterwards.

Good, he is well on his way, his journey will have ups and downs but stick with it it will be worthwhile.

Good luck

Hi there brings back memories from 4 years ago, when i was on the journey. My advise is to keep a notebook of how he is feeling during each session you will see a pattern. Try doing a bit of walking each day to keep as fit as possible, eat what he can. The weight loss is around 3 stone after op. Focus on the here and now. If you can get away for a break it is good to do so.

Best Wishes

Debbie

Hi thank you for your comment and advice we are keeping a food diary but we have found for the last 4 days he has managed to keep his food down as for exercise he is disabled and in a wheelchair so unfortunately not able to go walking he used to go to the gym 3 times a week and he cannot wait to get back to it as for trying to get away we are going to stay with friends for a week so that will be nice

Absolutely. The wise advice I received was to keep a diary as in all likelihood, the same pattern would attend each cycle. For me, the trial was the the three days of steroids and the subsequent comedown!

Yes pete is ok while he's on the steroids then he gets tired after that

Hi yes it really hits you coming off them. Also had rashes that came up on cycle 2 and 3 and had to have chemo adjusted and stopped earlier. Same on cycles after op.

Best wishes

Well I wish him well and enjoy your week away. I found getting out and about whilst on chemo made me feel better, although had to rest more. A change of scenery is always good.
