Adding in ranitidine?

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with reflux, LPr to be specific. The last week or so I've been having some increased symptoms, I think down to stress which I'm working on but I read somewhere about adding in an extra dose of ranitidine on top if my lansoprazole can be beneficial. Does anyone else do this? Are there any negative effects of doing this? I have an appointment with my GP but I was wondering if this could help tide me improve symptoms in the short term?

I also have problems with LPR have had Fundoplication systems have reoccurred. Ringing ears, sore throat hoarness, post nasal problems, also inflammation in my eyes which I have read can be caused by reflux. Taking Nexium and Carafate liquid. The Carafate seems to have helped just can't seem to get the doctor to diagnose reflux

Hi I take lansoprazole and ranitidine daily and it helps me. I have not suffered any side affects and have been doing this for a year. My consultant isn't worried at all about me taking them and to be honest it's such a relief not to have the constant reflux. As you mentioned it is also a good idea to limit how much stress you have if at all possible. I also sleep elevated and watch my diet. I had the Ivor Lewis surgery last year so I imagine taking this kind of medicine will be a permanent factor for me.
