Hi there

I was on Metoclopromide for about three years. It really helped me, felt so much better on it. I was suddenly told by doctor I couldn't have it any longer as was only ment for short term use.

Regards

Thanks for your replies. Mine is for hiatal hernia/GERD and gastroparesis. Think I’ll give it a go but cut the tablets in half as I don’t like the look of all the side effects. Ppi’s give me terrible restless legs.

i was given these by my gp but did not take them as i read inthe leaflet they were used to prevent nausea and vomiting that may occur after chemo, caused by radiography.I have hiatus hernia but recently diagnosed with oesohegeal dysmotility and dysphagia.just lately coughing or choking each time I eat and sometimes not being able to get my breath,

Hi Rainbow, might be worth giving them a try, many meds are used for different conditions, apart from those mentioned on their leaflets. Your gp must think these might help.

"Metoclopramide is a medication used mostly for stomach and esophageal problems as it is a prokinetic agent. It is commonly used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting, to help with emptying of the stomach in people with delayed stomach emptying, gastroenteritis and to help with gastroesophageal reflux disease. "

It seems like this would be very helpful to you, given your symptoms.

Wow

I seem to remember rainbow58 you said a long time ago you could only eat certain food....pizza, battered fish pies etc and how you never drank alcohol only liqueurs.. Maybe changing your diet plus taking these meds will cure your problems.

Hmmm. I’m only on day 3 taking half a tablet (5mg) twice a day and I’m already full of aches and pains and feeling sooooo tired. First tablet made my hands shake but hasn’t happened again since. Think I’m going to have to give them up. I presume the symptoms won’t subside .... anyone?

Hi Mum007, Maybe you could speak with your gp or even your chemist and see what they suggest.
