I was on omerprazole it didnt work now on lansaprozole been diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia but i am having problems eating. Everytime I eat I feel like I need to burp but can't then I suffer for hours later like food is stuck in my throat. Having more tests but does anyone else have these symptoms many thanks
I constantly feel like something is stuck in my throat for weeks now but haven’t been diagnosed with a hernia.
What tests have you had done? I have had EGD and barium swallow. I am thinking of motility and 24 hour testing also.
How do you get through the day without thinking about it? When I’m not doing something, it is constantly bothering me—not just when I eat!
Actually, eating and swallowing is the only time the feeling goes away. It’s so strange. I can tell you an Inhaler helps a little and laying on my left side with pillows raised. Best of luck to you! Here for support!

I had barium swallow and camera down my throat. Now have to have tests on my gullet to measure acid production and see how the muscles are working.
It is a horrible thing you have and you are right it is always on your mind. I also think sleeping on left side helps with pillows raised. The worse time for me is trying to eat so for now just have to stick to fluids. It means my social life has gone out the window and its really affecting my life.
Hopefully will get some answers after the tests.

I am sorry to hear about how this has affected social life. Maybe if you can still go out with friends but only order a water or a yogurt, apple sauce, soup or milkshake will help? Or making plans for bowling, hiking, the movies, etc. I am here to support you! XO
Yo Shazza. I’m 9 years on and seem to have just got the burping symptoms. I’ve weaned myself of omeprazole, is that good or bad!!! I’m still eating normally, no blockage sensation.

Yo Shazza. Yes, seems more normal. I’ve moved house so am waiting to see my new consultant as to the omeprazole situation. I get very little reflux, always night time when I end up in the foetal position. I’m on the mountain of pillows version as I cannot lay flat without more reflux happening. Plus, I have the wrong bed!! No legs. I’ve read somewhere that it’s better to raise your bed at the head end, obviously, by 6-8 inches and use less pillows.
Try sticking your finger down your throat, like you're going to make yourself throw-up. You literally have to gag...this can release trapped air. I have had air rush out loudly. Not sure if it'll work for you but it does me.
Whenever I feel as if there's a burp that's got stuck I take a WindSetler capsule, 'so far' it's helped. The chewable tablet version doesn't work as well for me though. Be interesting to know if they work for you - if you decide to give them a try.
Food gets lodged in my oesoph cos acid burning has narrowed it. I take sparkling water before during and after meals. The water induces burping .. the burping causes a shudder which seems to keep the food moving and stops/minimises blocking.

Hi all I had 24hr ph test etc all came back normal now waiting for c t scan worried now as still not eating much as still getting the feeling i need to burp after food cant then as if food coming back up throat and choking feeling also at night with water. Lets see what scan shows
