Is ranitidine ok long term?

I've had acid reflux for about three years. PPIs didn't help. I was prescribed various types. I have settled on 150mg ranitidine twice a day which helps but doesn't do the job 100% plus Gaviscon as and when things get bad. Looks like this will be the way forward for the rest of my life. I'm 64. Is ranitidine deemed safe long term? Thanks.

You may be suffering bile reflux. Try mixing teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a Tumbler of carbonated soft drink.

When do you recommend taking this Alan, throughout the day or before bed?

I take it about 1 hour before I eat
