Ive seen the doctor in the hospital, and he is referring me to a consultant, for an operation on my 8cm sliding hernia, which is above, my diaphragm in my chest, I am in a lot of pain and have 8cm barretts desease, low dysplasia. How long do you think before I get an operation on the NHS in Wales, please.

Sorry I can't help with Welsh situation. In Brighton I had a long wait to see the Consultant, about 8 weeks but then the operation was 5 weeks later. They were so behind with patients that the Surgeon worked on a Sunday to do urgent cases and I was just lucky to be one of those two patients. I was nervous, afraid I would be worse off, but it has been a complete success and I can now eat normally, 10 weeks later. I had exactly the same diagnosis as yourself. I hope your outcome is the same as mine. Best wishes.

I think that the consultant you see, or their secretary / nurse, would give you the most reliable information.
