Hi Coco5. My heart goes out to you at this time. I know exactly what you are going thru as six years ago I was exactly where you are now. I know you get lots of help and support from this amazing community of survivors on this site. Know you are not alone, we're all here for you. There is light at the end of the tunnel, little steps and you will get there.

A big hug

Hi there Coco5,

I am a cancer of the oesophagus survivor as it is now just over a year since my operation and I am clear of cancer.

I tell you this first because I felt almost exactly as you do a little more than a year ago.

You say your tumour is too large for them to operate on at present, have they not said that they are going to try to shrink the tumour with chemo or radio therapy or both?

Have they not given you an indication of what type of treatment they propose, or is the team still working on it? That's the thing to chase up, and have you been appointed a Macmillan Nurse they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Take some strength from the fact that an awful lot of people do have life after this cancer and there is no reason why you shouldn't be one of them so try to keep your spirits up if you can. I know just how worrying it is, I was so distressed just knowing it I couldn't tell anyone without bursting into tears and that's not like me at all!

Try to keep your fitness and strength up in preparation for the next year is my best advice and I wish you the very best of good luck

Best wishes

Richard

Hi COCO5

I'm 44 and 8 weeks diagnosed with oesophageal and liver cancer. I am into cycle 2 of palliative chemotherapy to shrink my tumour down currently Iam eating better now than I have done before my ogd. Keeping as fit as possible & Positivity is a big thing to lift you up. I cried -mornings being my worst but have come around through letting friends and family help. I have faith and leaning on pastoral care. You get a sense of panic and fright but talk it out it helps.

If I can help in any way let me know. I'm in early part of chemo but aim to hang about for a while yet to help advise x
