Hi guys got my results back have both acid reflux and bile reflux...my surgeon wants to send me to see another surgeon...so they can put there heads together and seevwhat is the best way to help me..

It is definitely good that you have had these tests, and that the surgeons will have a get together. It might just depend on the cause of each one as to what they do about it.

Reflux of acid and bile can produce the cellular changes known as Barrett's Oesophagus (as described simply here: sites.google.com/site/barre...

Whereas it's relatively easy to reduce acid with medication, it's not so easy to reduce bile nor reflux which is a mechanical rather than a chemical problem. (See the reflux section of the free book / website, DownWithAcid.org.uk)

Reflux needs to be managed by lifestyle changes. If that's not possible, reflux reduction surgery (a fundoplication) my be required (if you still have an intact oesophagus and stomach).

Yes I still have my oesophagus....my surgeon says I am in a difficult situation as after a I have had an operation to divide the nerve that goes to the stomach and the channel that is meant to stay closed at the end of the stomach there are significant. Problems afterwards and there is not a simple solution so I have to have a chat with another surgeon then he will.put there heads together to see what the best thing to do with me..
