Why is it the only time I feel hungry is late evening, when it's better not to eat?

You too? And when it happens to me I eat crisps or cheese or bread or anything else unwise in easy reach.

I eat ice cream in bed, wait 20 minutes and have some water which helps flush the food down and minimise reflux.

Ice cream in bed! What a great idea. I can't wait for my partner's response to that request

Ice cream, chocolate and crisps go so well together.

Hi

I agree, Every morning the cycle starts over, with problems of eating and effects from new plumbing, knowing I need to eat frequently ( very underweight, I sneeze and loose weight!). As the evening draws in I can eat a bit. Never feel hungry, always feel full. It's a bit like Groundhog Day, then it starts all over again the next day.

Hi Lana, strange you should mention Groundhog Day. After my op. I was in ICU for a month. Each time I woke was the same. I had no idea if it was day or night, just that I was in a bed with tubes in me everywhere, even down my throat, a ventilator was breathing for me. I was sure it was a nightmare, a Groundhog Day nightmare. I wrote Groundhog Day on the clip board the nurse held for me, but no one understood what I mean't.

Hi Patchworker

Wow, you totally understand. Sorry you were in ICU for so long. A shame the nurses hadn't seen the film.

I take low dose anti-depressant (amitryptline 25mg per night). Guess what the known side effects of this and many other anti-depressants? Weight gain, increased appetite and a good nights sleep! At one point I was down to 7st and I'm now 10st 7lbs over a period of 4 years...
