Go on ,try and explain it -) .

I get various sensations - like a trapped bubble of air /burp ,that I can't bring up .

Another is when my throat feels rigid /stiff and as if it won't move properly to swallow .

Is it like either of them ?

I sometimes get what feels like cramp in the left side of my throat. I've always just put it down to damage done by the throat drain or the respirator during surgery.

It could be that the oesophagus (what's left anyway) is sticking together and causing this sensation. Try sucking on a sweet or have a spoonful of honey to lubricate it.

These throat sensations can happen even years after surgery and it could be due to the scar tissue.

When it happens to me I agree with Dashwood and always have a spoonful of honey.

You might also try some gentle throat massage whilst holding your chin up. Do not do it if it does not feel helpful though.
