Hi Gilly l take Omeprazole and they are a different colour everytime l get them.

Not sure but l wonder if it is because the phamacies shop around different drug companies for the cheapest, and maybe each company has its own colour combination.

No doubt someone out there will know ;-)

I guess, as YorkshireRose suggests, they may generic lansoprazole from different manufacturers.

When I was first on Omeprazole, I noticed the branded Losec the pharmacist gave me a couple of times when he was out of the cheaper generic equivalent worked better (though could see no reason for it). My GP then specified Losec on my prescriptions (until I was switched to lansoprazole).

So note the manufacturer and see if this is the case and if so see if your GP can specify the brand that works best for you.

Do you think that your tongue is sore because of the pills being stuck to it before you can swallow them?

And are these new pills specifically less effective than the previous ones ion dealing with acid reflux?

I think I would ask the pharmacist for their advice. It is not unusual for people to need medication in a particular form, and this version of the medication may be upsetting n your system in some way.

Your digestive system and the way it absorbs medication will be different from normal. It is not unusual for people to need to try different sorts of PPI medication, virtually on a trial and error basis, so it should not be difficult to revert to the previous version of your medication?

Could you describe the appearance of the capsule/ tablet and any letters or numbers printed on the dosage unit?

I had the stomach taken away, don't need to take lansoprazol just multi vitamin/mineral and b12 injections. I suffer with sore tongue sometimes can hardly talk. I put it down to when I am over tired or lack of vitamin.

No I think it's these ones I'm taking now and they don't stop the reflux so good which is bad news for me I can do without the burning in my gullet and throat I had six months of this non stop last year and lost a lot of weight because I could not eat anything so I hope I can get some that I can take .

Some generics do seem to work better than others. One choice is to have your doctor request the Brand Name medication for medical reasons. I'm not sure what the process in Britain may be for that, but your pharmacist should be able to let you know if that is an option. With the brand name, you know what you're getting, and it won't change month-to-month. If brand name is not available, you could consider asking your doc for a higher dosage.

In the last 12 months the lansopazole tablets I have been taken has changed 3 times. The pharmacist told me it depends on who orders supplies them. One tablet was a bitter taste another was a sweet taste. I also queried this with my doctor when it 1st changed and he said it should make no difference......Despite the fact I was getting side affects, he eventually put me back on the original tablets.

(it also comes down to £`s eg Zoton cost more than generic tablets so doctors prescribe.....lansopazole, not by manufacture.
