Hi, my daughter has contamination OCD.

I would say it's normal to cry whilst in theropy. I'm not sure if I will be able to help you but I'll try my best.

Good luck xx

Thankyou for your reply xxx

Therapy can be like that you're treading in waters you're not comfy with. Perfectly normal to go through the process. You're therapist will keep you safe you are ok.

It isn't easy to do exposure therapy. I've found it very difficult myself. It is normal to get upset about it.

I too have had OCD for many years and it is a very isolating illness. It can cut you off from other people as it impedes your ability to go out and do things. Also many people don't understand it, and my friends and family have been, on the whole, very patient, but I've also had some adverse experiences with people shouting at me.

Feel free to unload on this page and vent whenever you like, as we do understand what it's like. By the way, are you on medication? Not everyone suits it, but it can be helpful.

Thanks for your reply, I’m on paroxitine 30 mg but don’t feel it does much now, are you on any meds? Xxx

I take 300 mg of sertraline, which is a very high dose, and also 5 mg of aripiprazole, which boosts the sertraline. Aripiprazole is actually an anti-psychotic. I'm not psychotic, but in low doses they are used with OCD patients as they boost the effects of the antidepressant.

No problem. I ought to add that if you are offered an anti-psychotic as a booster to the antidepressant do not take sulpiride, as it makes you put on weight. I took it some years ago and put on two and a half stone, which I'm still trying to lose! But aripiprazole I have found to be effective and haven't put on any weight with.
