I take sertraline - am on a high dosage (300 mg a day) and for me it really helps. Obviously people react to different medications in different ways, and one that suits me might not suit someone else, but I'd certainly say to everyone, they can be a great help. If they are making you worse, or you think they may be, a talk with your psychiatrist might be in order. Another medication might work for you better. But they all work best with CBT and certainly for me, make CBT a lot easier.

It made a huge difference to me when I first started taking it, oooh couple decades ago! However, progress has been made since then and there are other more effective drugs now available.

You need to get referred to a psychiatrist who can figure out the correct treatment over time, and what side effects might occur (especially if you have other health issues and taking medication for them).

Good luck!
