Robert, Eternacept is a Biologic agent to try to stop the progression of RA. It is safe, has few, if any, side effects, is the most popular of the Biologics. Your doctor is wise to try to stop the disease and the pain, so don't worry, there are many people here who take Biologics. Good wishes for relief soon. Loret

Hello Robert, I started etanercept also know as Enbrel 4 months ago, I have written a couple of blogs about my experience with it as I am no in remission!

I was on Sulphasalazine, Methetrextae and Plaquinil but now just Methetrexate and enbrel, has been no problems or side effects and I started to feel the difference within 4-6 weeks.

How do you feel about it?

hope this new medication works had ra for about 8 years was ok till a year ago then pain everyday getting worse fed up waking up in pain not being able to do normal things a parent does simple things seem such effort heres hoping etanercept works

I understand completely the parent bit, have a 2 children, the youngest is just one. The guilt is the worst...

I'm so thankful for feeling better again, you'll get there, enbrel seems to be very effective, keep us posted on your progress :)

Hi I take Embrel for my A.S. The injections are quite easy to use after a while. I was alittle bit nervy to start with and I inject just above the knee which for me is the least painful area. Embrel works well on the whole. I find that my joint movements have improved over the months but my spine does remain stiff. I am sensitive to weather changes like most other patients but nonetheless Embrel is a better drug than the NS drugs although I still have to take those with the Embrel.

Enbrel injections are fine. I have been taking them for 7 years and the improvement in RA is beyond believe. I believe the new enbrel injections are very much like the ones for diabetics now, but I have the old style ones. A nurse came to show me what to do so and thats it. No problems, just enjoy the new life it will give you.
