Hi all.Flare up right now.Took Ibuprofen 2 or 3 hours ago. Intermittent pain in left knee pain almost unbearable. Is it safe to take painkiller eg Paracetamol as well now? Don't want to overdose! I don't take meds for RA but do for Epilepsy, Asthma, and High BP.

We aren't supposed to advise on here Wannabefree - especially with your other non Ra medications. You could ask a late night pharmacy? Hope you feel better soon. x

OK I didn't know that sorry. Thanks for the info. Best wishes. x

It's so hard to get it together to phone NHS direct or contact pharmacy etc. when you are feeling ill isn't it. But I hope you do (or get someone to do it for you) and that you get some relief soon. Luce xx

Try phoning 111 which is the new improved, all singing, all dancing out of hours help. They should be able to tell you about pain meds. Take care and I hope you get some relief soon. Virge

it is because people can be well meaning but can accidently give quite

wrong advice especially not medical ie dr etc x

A word of warning ibuprofen is not recommended for people with asthma or high Bp unless Gp prescribed.. I AM HOWEVER NOT GIVING ADVICE on taking this drug it is you/ your Gps decision?././ paracetamol is safe for moSt people however.!!

Thankyou all for yr comments. I really appreciate that you took the time to answer. Summer, the GP prescribed ibuprofen some time ago. I don't normally take them, but was so desperate earlier on. Actually, I went and laid on the bed about 7 pm. Only just got up after heavy sleep. Thank the Lord, the pain isn't there at the moment! Thankyou all again. Take care. X

I have some non medical advice. I have some gel packs that I keep in the freezer which I use for pain in my joints. They can really help, especially if your joints get hot like mine.

Cold stiff pains are best treated with hot compresses or microwaveable wheat bags.

Just a thought!
