I think you have to let dentist know what meds your on. Mostly mine seemed interested when I was on predneselone.

I don't think it will? Good luck hon? My pal always takes half a valium before dentist. It is frightening, but you will be glad you went (I Hope) :)

MTX shouldn't make any difference to dental treatment, I take Leflunomide/Naproxen and various painkillers. I've been having dental treatment for over a year and the only thing my dentist was interested in was the regular steroid injections I have.

Personally I prefer the dentist to the hairdresser, those sinks kill my neck and back. lol x

Not to worry Jaqi. I'm on MTX and have no troub le with anaesthics etc at the dentist. Just let him know you are on MTX so he can make sure your notes are up to date. If you need antibiotics after an extraction there are some that don't agree with the RA drugs so always check with your pharmacist before taking anything. LavendarLady x

Beth, I agree, I get a sore neck & head from the hairdresser's sinks too. I thought I was the only one. Usually my neck hurts for 3 or so days afterwards.

I've never had sedation for dental work, but my dentist put me on antibiotics before & after I had fake joints & foot surgeries, just to make sure. She says that the gums have the most germs & can affect the rest of the body.

Some diazepam( old trade name valium) is safe with your meds.. this is prescription only sedative.
