i went to the docs today as i was feeling abit yucky and plus i found a lump in my armpit, was so worried !....... it was a swollen gland... the doc said im having a bad flare up and because i have tried most of the painkillers and none of them even help alittle with the pain, he told me to see my rhuemy, i did have an appiontment with the rhuemy nurse but she canceled as shes ill. so im going to phone her tomoz to see whats happening.

also my nails are going mad, they are dis coloured and brittle and sore, apparently thats cause my flare up aswell. i have never had such a bad flare up like this before, and the MTX hasnt had time to properly kick in as i have only been on them for 5 weeks, .. oh god i hate this disease, i really do. so has anyone else ever had swollen glands or nail problems due to RA ? and any advice would be great, coz at this moment in time i just feel so alone, and my partner is great but doesnt really understand how painfull really is.

mucho love

xxxx

Hi Jonsi, I don't have RA but have PsA and my nails go from being very brittle and discoloured to being extremely hard and lifting from the nail bed. This happens to both toe and finger nails, I do know this is part and parcel of psoriasis, but not too sure on the RA side of things. Re- swollen glands again would not like to comment.

Hope you feel better soon. xxx

Hi there Jonsi sorry you are in the middle of some madness with your RA. Hope you can find relief very soon and the MTX brings much improvement. I know how being locked in that pain is.

I know my toenails are harder since RA but not really any problems with fingernails. I agree with Liz and a nice nail session could make you feel better and she may be able to suggest natural products to help, especially with the soreness.

(Btw I have a weirdy toenail which grows thicker than the others and sideways but not ingrown. GP says no infection or fungus but when I said should I use a lotion for fungal to be sure, he said a big no as those can have side effects in the body)

Anyhow I hope you feel much better really soon

Yes, I have had wax baths many times at physio, and thinking of buying my own hand bath. Argos have one about £40. The wax draws out the inflammation, and your hands feel and look so smooth and soft.
