Methotrexate

Just a quickie... big helpful tip for me which works... and that is to take the MX at night before you go to bed.

First couple of weeks I took it in the morning and felt queasy on and off all day but taking it at night you're asleep when you feel queasy (I presume!) because I wake up feeling ok!

Thanks, Julie, I think it's really helpful to see what works for different people. It should help people to make decisions - responsibly of course - about what helps them. I wish there'd been more chances to share information about RA years ago when I remember my aunt suffering from it. Seemed like she was never given information about might make things easier, or bearable, for her and she was just expected to put up with the pain.

Good point Julie! If you are taking stomach protectors (and you should be!) such as Omeprazole or Lanzoprazole they should be taken at the same time. Although Mtx is okay, and often recommended, to be taken in the evening it does need to be taken on an empty stomach to gain maximum absorption. My stomach is NEVER empty in the evening! There again after 7 years on the stuff I don't take Mtx any more!!

You have point there. I take the omeprazole once a day first thing on an empty tummy. I take the MX very last thing say 10 ish as I usually eat around 7.... cor nuffink is simple innit.
