facet joint injections

Due to have facet joint injection at end of September. Been told it hurts. Also been reading about Vit B 12 injections for the fatigue. Are they worth a try as this last week has been torture - Home from work no energy 2-3 hours on setee every night. I know this is my half century year but \I feel like I'm nearer the full century. Thanks

I assume you have had a blod test to check for vitamin b12 deficiency? Ra and fibromyalgia can both cause fatigue without being B12 deficient!

Be warned it is meant to be a painful injection

is it the vit injection that's painful or the facet joint? or maybe both?

Haven't had levels checked at all. Maybe something to add to the list WHEN I get an appointment with the Rhuematologist.

Hi, sorry can't help with answer but would also like to know has I'm also due to have them soon along with epidural. Not got a date for mine yet so if you get yours first you can let me know how you get on!

I've had three lots of facet joint injections in a hip, and I coped well with the pain, but am told I have an extremely high pain threshold, and apparantly I was highly unusual in that I didn't screech/cry! These injections were done in a sterile theatre setting by my orthoepedic surgeon, and the radiologist/radiographer is present to help pinpoint the exact location to guide the surgeon in getting the injections in exactly the correct location.The area is firstly numbed with a local anesthetic shot, prior to injection. None of it is pleasant, but all tolerable. As it was my hip, I could not drive following this, as you can experience a 'dead leg', and I had that on 2 of the 3 occasions, so you certainly need a helper to help you walk if it is a knee/hip. That very peculiar numbness wears off after a few hours though. Certainy worth a try!

Thank you. I am not soft and at least if I am prepared for it to hurt then it is less of a shock
