I've experienced this, and it is a common effect, so don't feel too frightened by it. Move around a lot & try to keep your body as active as possible. Please try to get that movement in your hands/ fingers early in the morning when you wake up with stiffness; it's also about circulation as well as side effects of RA drugs. Even if your medication is not feeling very effective, it's still so important to move around. Sorry if that sounds like a boring answer!

its a very good answer andrea!! hey its me whos the boring one!!

Hey, keep asking away- this forum is excellent.

Yes I get thus- especially when temperature drops even slightly. Fingers go numb then bright White. Doctor says it's due to inflammation of theverists, had a Steroid jab and up'd my MXT and much better. Off soon for some electric flow tests as there is a simple op you can have to help.

My advice- get a steroid jab xx

I sometimes get a white numb patch on the end of my big toe. Is this a similar problem?

Hi - me too, not so much now but when I "IT" was at it's worst I got numb fingers and toes. I was forever dropping me eggs! Much to Mr Silageman's consternation! But he still wouldn't sack me. -- what's this got to do with anything?

Sorry, Julie. I've got it in my head now that Mr Silageman was a chicken. My thoughts are thus: a chicken wouldn't blame you for dropping eggs, or for having RA! I also think that Mr Silageman would be a great name for one of those chickens that pecked all the feed, that you really didn't like if you were honest, that starved & bullied all the rest of the chickens.

hi not to sure wot u mean with yr reply. do u mean tht numb fingers are not relevant to the illness?

numb fingers are relevant as can be Ra or ra meds related? or it could be carpel tunnel? also carpel tunnel can be RA related .. best to get it checked out.. hope this clarifys ..

My finger tips aren't exactly numb but they do feel as though I had dipped them in something mildly corrosive? I've noticed they tingle and sting a lot especially around my nails. Excluding steroid I'm not on any drugs just now - but have nodules/ swellings on the top joint of each finger and one thumb and the soreness/ tingle seems to relate a bit to these so I'm guessing it must be part of RA? My GP said swelling could relate to osteoarthritis or another disease as I'm still to be formally diagnosed.
