Missing a dose of methotrexate

I am on 12.5 gr a week just now which I usually take on a Friday I then have a lousy headache all Saturday and sometimes Sunday This week I have the most awful cold and sore throat Would it be ok to miss a dose till next week when hopefully I will have got rid of this cold

Check with doc, but I think when you have an nfection and or on anti biot u supposed to stay off unil infection clears.

The MTX does build up in your body, so a week off shouldn't cause huge problems. I've done it by accident once or twice. But best to check with doc. Pollyx

Thanks guys to be honest I feel so bad I dont think I could face the lovely methotrexate this weekend so I am gonna give it a miss Fingers crossed I feel better soon and I would like to thank my lovely grandson for passing this cold to me at the weekend lol

I've missed a dose here and there. In fact, a couple of times I've missed two doses when I've been late booking my prescription online and then stupidly kept forgetting to go and get it from the chemist!

When I missed two doses I noticed I was getting pain in the ball of one foot. But after I got back on the MTX the pain went away. However, the ball of foot pain is now with me pretty much constantly so I'm booked into see the podiatrists.

I took methotrexate for 8 years and always missed a dose when i had a heavy cold. Sometimes my joints would be a bit more nippy the following week but not always. I suffered from really bad headaches too. My Consultant told me to drink my daily allowance of water to the max and keep taking

my folic acid every day except med days. It helped so might be worth a try? Hope you feel better soon x

thanks K3let I have only been told to take folic acid once a week but I am going to ask consultant at end of month if I can increase this cos I hate having headache This stems back to my youth when I was a slave to migraines Feeling a bit better today especially after my first cuppa which soothed my throat Onwards and upwards lol

Hi, I'm taking methotrXate injections once a week also and my Dr has me take folic acid everyday. I even take it on injection days. It really offsets the side effects. I would definitely take it everyday, not once a week.

Glad you feel a wee bitty better. I was told to take it once a week too until I mentioned the headaches. Worth a go I suppose. Take care x
