yes your skin can get very sensitive to the sunlight while on the MTX,I came out in an awful rash too had a biopsy on this and was told it was due to the MTX and sunlight.

has the years have gong on though, for me this as subsided a little I'm stiil very careful in the sun though using sun cram and a hat if I'm abroad.

Yes, I agree with Mand - my skin became photosensitive on Mtx, steroids also have that effect. I use Factor 50 and fake tan, that way I can sit in the semi shade and enjoy the warmth but not sustain damage. I have still been on holiday (and worn a bikini) but enjoy the warmth and protect my skin by loose, floaty layers, big brimmed hat and frequent applications of suncreme:-)

I have never had an issue with mtx and the sun (we don't get much here in Cumbria!) but I am careful and do apply suncream if we're going to be out all day...although having been vit D deficient before I'm conscious of trying to get enough of the good stuff whilst still staying safe!

all sensible stuff ladies, need 15 min of sun without cream a day for vit d.. then slap on at least factor 30.. now im on gold IM(Itra muscular) told sun will make skin greyish blue. not an attractive option x

I seem to have developed lovely big red cheeks this year, especially on the the right side of my face. Normally have factor 15 daily on my face but am thinking that I might just have to increase this. Hadn't really made the connection with MTX but have now.

A week after I started MTX I came out in a rash on both arms.My GP prescribed Eurax cream to stop the itching and clear up the rash but said it was due to me sitting out in the sun and said I should always use a high factor sun screen.I wasn't aware MTX and sunshine didn't mix! Brenda.

I've never been great in the sun & was photosensitive even before the Mtx. Looks like I'll be digging out the Factor 50 again this year!

Hi :)

I have just written a 'Blog' on this as it seems many people are not aware of the risks or indeed the reasons for photosensitivity . Here's the link, for information nras.healthunlocked.com/blo...
