My Mum is in agony and cannot find a good mattress. She tried the Tempur without success. Any recommendations or good mattress experiences?

Have you tried an electric bed, they can go up at the front and the bottom, some even have heat, massage in them so if she wants to sit up it will be able to do it.

Look on the internet and input electric bed. Hope this is of some help to you.

Can it somehow be one side of a double bed as Dad is ok?

Yes as you can buy toe singles not neccessarly craftmatic as there are other companys that do them. I think if you go to a bed shop you will get one. x

Or you could try memory foam mattress toppers - some people hate them, but I think they're great so am saving up to get one (they're expensive, about £100).

Im sure Aldi are doing these- check out there website.

unless they have already- worth a look as there generally cheaper plus there under warranty for 3 years.

My double electric bed was from "Dreams" a standard non specialist provider. No fancy stuff, massage heat etc but a good buy at £750 2 years ago. Operates by a remote on a cable switch. I topped this excellent mattress (which has a 2in memory foam bit on top which I found too warm) with a mattress topper from DPW, cost £40.Microfibre.7cm thick. Bliss. Some of the specialist beds are thousands of pounds with gadgets that a. can go wrong and b. you might rarely use! Ithink Argos do one too. I wouldn't be without mine! Look at Duvet and Pillow warehouse too as a topper alone might work Found a feather topper too heavy and high maintenance if you have arthritic hands.

Hi, if you are anywhere near Perth in Scotland you should try and get to Bensons. They have a bed which scans your body and it will determine which kind of mattress you need. They have one which is different on each side. ( for different sleepers )

Hi NinaB

There is a charity called the Disabled Living Foundation who provide impartial advice, information and training on daily living aids (including things like beds, wheelchairs, footwear). They produce a number of factsheets, including one called, 'Choosing a bed and bed accessories' that you may find useful:

dlf.org.uk/factsheets/Choos...

They also have a helpline you can call for further information, they may be able to suggest something suitable for your mum: 0845 130 9177

The other charity that may be able to advise are The Sleep Council, who have lots of good information on beds and mattresses: sleepcouncil.org.uk/

Kind regards

Thank You

My bed is from Dreams. Its electric with massage unit. The mattress is neither too hard or too soft. Apart from initial pressure on my neck when I lie down I find it very comfortable. On bad days I put the massage unit on for about ten minutes and its great. It helps me off to sleep eventually with a pain killer. If you claim DLA you are enttitled to a VAT discount so that obviously helps. I did try Tempur but it made me feel worse so after changing beds a few times I am pleased with my Dreams bed. They give you a trial period I think but check on that one. Good luck
