I have been on Sarilumab for around a year and have gained a lot of abdominal fat. Is there a connection?

I have been on Sarilumab four and a half years and have also gained abdominal fat. I assumed it was my age - middle age spread and did not link it to Sarilumab. My chloesterol has gone up to 6.2 which they say is due to the Sarilumab. They are not worried as my good cholesterol is better than my bad, so no treatment for it.

It is common to gain weight after starting biologics. I don’t think it’s the biologics theirselves but the fact your body isn’t burning calories trying to fight the inflammation. So if your diet is unchanged, it maybe your gaining weight for that reason.

I’ve gained weight in the biologics

About 8punds over 3 months most round the tummy area.

I have never had a weight gain like this from meds.
