Good Morning everyone!

Though I don’t post often, I read all your posts and have learnt a lot from your advice and tips for living with RA.

I’m going on holiday to the Far East in August and wonder if anyone can point me to any insurance company which is helpful ( and not too expensive ) for someone with RA.

All good wishes and thank you ❤️

You could try a comparison web site.

Hi. Have just insured for a 10 day cruise at the beginning of October (one off insurance) and used Insure and Go online. Have to answer questions on health if you declare you have a medical condition but it was quite reasonable and gives different options for cover. My partner went with Aventi and that was also very reasonable but of course you can use comparison sites and others will no doubt give you some other options. Have a great time!

Just Travel…specialists for people with pre-existing medical conditions….used them last year…..very helpful…

I am with NatWest …. Pay for the year and it’s reasonable

before you travel do you ring & declare your medical conditions & hospital/GP/treatments to check Nat West Insurance will cover you at normal terms?

If not and god forbid you needed to claim they may decline you for non-disclosure of pre-existing medical conditions & refuse to pay any claim.

Check the annual policy wording as it will explain this as a condition of using the policy.

If you know this/do this already just ignore my post.

🙂

Leisure Guard have been good for us.

I’d try a few quotes, although we found LV (Liverpool Victoria) to be the best option for us. 👍

Ive used Stay Sure an All Clear in the past. But I'll get quotes ofc the others mentioned here too as it pays to shop around.

I like AllClear, they are geared towards those with medical conditions. Very straightforward online application with access to online chat if you’re struggling with any questions. Very reasonable

We have used Staysure for years and my having RA didn’t impact that greatly on the premium. Just make sure you disclose treatment/drugs.

I use just travel too they’re very reasonable and lots of options. All sorted online and usually lots of options. We usually go with a non standard cover and not the cheapest option but it’s always been easy to arrange with no issues so far and we’ve used them for years.

I only travel in Europe so cant help but you do have to list all ailments….they wouldnt cover me for reflux as awaiting test results ☹️. Good luck and have a fantastic hol.

good morning, I have used Allclear on several occasions, & the prices are very good. Also look for discounts on the internet, previously I got 20% off my insurance. II found the comparison sites very expensive for what they were offering. Good luck in ur search.

All Clear is the one I have. Got a multi-trip European one, but will get Global next year.

It asks about all your conditions and meds. When it asks about RA meds make sure you don’t add in meds you take for other conditions; be specific.

I have RA, I’m a single mum. I get PIP. Just wanted to know, can I work 30-35 hours with out affecting my benefits? I.e working tax and PIP? Im struggling financially.

in reply to Naju84

I recommend ‘Benefits and Work’ or the Citizens Advice Bureau websites. Read their bumpf and also try a couple of ‘benefits calculators’. Things change all the time and they update their information regularly. Child Poverty Action Group is another great site. Good luck x

It won't affect your PIP but might with your working tax

in reply to Naju84

My niece gets ‘child tax credits’ to help with nursery fees and she works full time.

Just been to Italian Lakes and used Staysure, very reasonable, my daughter who came with me also used them, I got 20% off too.

I was recommended the post office and use them. Pretty easy to use. For Europe it's about £60 a trip. The comparison websites are no good for RA I have found.

Aviva are very good for people with medical conditions

That might not be correct Ajay575. It will depend why PIP was awarded. For example if it’s for ‘activities of daily living’ then on renewal there may well be questions re how the activities of work compare to activities of daily living; whether reasonable adjustments are in place in the workplace and looking at declared difficulties at home, how these compare to the job role.

in reply to suwinter

Yep. I had a two year court battle at ‘review’ because I’d started to work one day a week term time only…

:LV were great til I reached 80, npw using Staysure; RAonly seems to be an issue if you've had joints resurfaced / replaced, Good hunting
