Tendons

just talked to my new rheumy about some recent scans on my joints. She mentioned tendon issues which no one has ever brought up before, does anyone know anything about this? As usual when presented with something new I didn’t have the wit to ask about it!

My MRI scan showed that my tendons were very badly inflamed at the point of joining the bone. Like you I didn't think to ask about it, I was just getting the news that I had RA at the time so more focused on that. However it does seem from Google searching that there is a tendency for tendonitis in RA...I'll be interested to hear if anyone here knows more.

Hi, my pain symptoms are tendinitis, I have De Quervains in both wrists, my shoulders have had bursitis and now I have tendonopathy in both, they have been painful since last May! My ankles are the same. The steroid injections have not worked and I’m now on low dose of Methotrexate, then Hydroxychloroquine and sulphasalazine non of which seem to be helping- anyone any ideas? Pain killers do very little and my liver area hurts, I also wake up with a horrendous tasting mouth. I dream of waking up without shoulder pain..

For the last year I have been plagued by tendonitis. And yes it does seem that people with RA have a tendency to tendinitis (😂😁), but not that RA causes it.

Have had 4 lots of steroid shots for De Quervain (in both hands) trigger finger and wrist flexor tendonitis in the last 10 months. Due another one at end of month.

Has been driving me crazy, and have a cupboard full of splints for different bits of me when they play up.

my rheumy does then. She has a small ultrasound in her office, so does them there and then.

I have ankylosing spondylitis, and the enthesis which is the part where tendons and ligaments attach to the bone get inflamed. Some of my tendons havd calcified as a result of the inflammation. This then causes shortening of the attached muscles, or if it’s a ligament affected it limits the range of movement in the joint. Tendonitis is common with RA, and tends to be treated with the same meds, although they avoid steroid injections as they weaken tendons.

I have tenosynovitis (inflammation of the lining of the sheath that covers the tendon) in both wrists and ankles. It is quite common in RA and particularly psoriatic arthritis. My joints are less of a problem. Tendonitis is inflammation of the tendon.

They are treated with the same meds as RA.

I get tenosynovitis as well in both wrists and ankles. Not often, but when it occurs, it can take awhile to resolve. (Many days, maybe a week or so, that is.)

I don't know much about this except that my tendons hurt way more than my joints so something must happen to them with inflammatory arthritis.
