Update on PIP application

Just an update on my PIP application, so 2 weeks ago i got my date for my telephone assessment which was for this morning at 9am and they even phoned me yesterday morning to confirm that someone will be calling me today at 9am to do my assessment. So yesterday afternoon and evening i thought i would start preparing for it so i got all my paperwork out and read through it all and organised it all on the table ready for this morning so if i needed to refer to any of it it would be easier for me to access. So this morning i get up extra early so i can get myself together which normally takes me a couple of hours and then i make sure everything is ready like my phone on charge, bottle of water etc and then i sit down and wait for the call, then at 9.10am phone rings i have to confirm who i am and then the lady on the phone says “sorry but we do not have a health professional to do your assessment today and we will have to reschedule” 🤦‍♀️

How very annoying, my husband had his a few months ago, he had to wait another month or so for a decision. He was so nervous on the phone. His letter finally came back saying he sounded very confident and didn’t sound like he had mental health issues, they deducted over £100 off his claim. He is the worst he has ever been, between his pain, mobility and mental health. He didn’t appeal the time before he turned 65 and they took his high mobility off him, he just wasn’t in a good place but he did appeal this time. He won’t get his high rate back because of his age now, it’s not fair they can keep taking off, we also thought once he turned that age it would be 10 years before he would be assessed again but alas no, it was the usual three years. How can they tell over a phone how you are, it’s getting ridiculous now.

It said something along those lines in my assessment that I seemed confident and had no anxiety. That just bare face lie and it's so unfair.

Again same as my sis. She said when she read what they'd written about her it was like she was reading about someone else. It wasn't her at all.

it’s just so unfair, when my hubby ended the call he was physically sick.

Oh dear. That happened to my sister. She has really bad anxiety and was so worked up about her call, didnt sleep for days before. Then they rescheduled on the morning. They just don't realise what it does to some people. Good luck anyway. I hope they reschedule very soon x

How beep beep annoying. You're all geared up for it & get that call. Been there for something else so can empathise. I hope it's not too long before it's rescheduled.

Highly frustrating, but guess people do ring in sick and this is the time of year for annual reassessments for lots of benefits . Hope you get your reschedule soon.

Oh that’s awful for you. So frustrating you must be so mad. I would be hopping and a few expletives going on. Sending you gentle hugs and hope because they’ve messed you about that you get a good outcome and they get a great health professional who listens and tells the truth. It’s such an awful process I was stressed out for days and weeks about it.

Sorry to hear this. It’s such a stressful process anyway, but unfortunately letting people down in this way is not uncommon. Sending strength x

I had the same thing, its as if they deliberately set out to course you as much stress as possible. From what I could tell from my experience they want to know if you could work in a call centre. Can you respond to questions hold a conversation.

I was Exhausted and in pain even though I took the call ( eventually) while layer in bed. Yet they still claimed I was fit to attend an educated center ( to train for call centre work)

What they don't ask in how much effort you have to put in to prepare yourself to take their call.

Bear this in mind when you do take the call.

Pip was set up to take away help people with disabilities desperately need. It's not about saving money more pushing their contempt of people who can't work becouse they are disabled.

Their are some good people in this country who do care, just not the government

Something worth remembering is how you feel on one of your worst days. People with genuine disabilities tend to down play the bad days, concentrate on the good, it's how we cope. But when dealing with pip they will take your best days as the norm and ignore what you say about your bad days.

Like Tourk has said, don`t tell PIP about any good days you have only emphasize the bad as the assessor will take into account the good days you have and this will reduce your points as you need so many points to get PIP.

*bad days or better days
