Morning, I took my first dose of Idacio on Thursday. Felt a bit nauseous but ok but on Friday I felt spaced out with a bad headache and then a dodgy tummy this morning. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is it likely to happen each dose or do the effects lessen? I hope someone can help! Thank you

Hallo. One of the drugs I haven’t been on but have sampled most of them over the past 33 years. Every time I’ve tried a new one I’ve had the same problems. Your body’s recognised a ‘foreigner’, has reacted with the usual symptoms of minor side effects - headache, upset tum etc. but over the course of the next few days that should settle. You may get the same thing happening every time you take the drug for a few days after doing so or you may have had a single reaction and not have any more problems. It’s all a bit hit and miss with these powerful chemicals we are given in the hope they make us better. I always say, if the disease doesn’t get you the drugs do! Give it a chance and if it keeps getting worse, or you just can’t stand it, contact your rheumatology team because there’s lots of other drugs out there. Idacio is a 'biosimilar' for adalimumab (I had to look it up). No I haven't had this with a different biosimilar (Imraldi).

But everyone's body reacts in different ways and it is possible that it is related, but also possible that it is due to something else entirely....

You will have to do further 'trials' on your own body to discover whether this always happens or was just a co-incidence. Sorry not to be more helpful but the only advice is to try again a t least a couple more times!

Thank you I will. My Rheumy team said the same so I will see what happens next time!
