well lets c how many glasses have you got
You need to go to specsavers 🤣 .. you need a prescription so get your eyes tested. Buying ‘off the shelf’ will not work well..
thats were i went whether its me but did not like them not clear better off than on at distance i think i need to have some kind test or check up
I go to Specsavers and can’t speak highly enough of them. My glasses are always good quality, and I don’t choose the most expensive frames, and the opticians are good. Two years ago one picked up that I had macular degeneration, and in August a different optician decided my cataract needed sorting. My only gripe is that you never see the same optician twice.
Wow! Yes, I like that they do full eye health checks. Hopefully catching your issues early will help. My dad had cataracts on both eyes; each was removed at a different time; he was nervous/ anxious as you would expect, but says he’s never seen so clearly, now they are done.
I was very nervous before the op, but it was painless and my eyesight was much better afterwards.
I had a couple of bad experiences at my Specsavers (it's down to the individual branch so I'm not criticising them as a whole) so I get my test done at Vision Express - always see the same person and she's really clued up on the medication I take. But then I take my prescription to Specsavers!
Last time Vision Express would have charged me nearly £600 for varifocals + second pair. That was even with the cheapest £99 frames. I got the same elite vf lenses and a second pair of prescription sunglasses from Specsavers and paid £280 for the lot!
hi ramros at them prices its a go at what i did googles for you there called worth a look peanuts for what i paid but i can feel eyes going out of flunter now need check up i got that diabetic test coming up
I have 2 pairs of bins, for close work. I keep one pair in my bag & the other on my head! I donate my old ones to Vision Aid when I need a new prescription, I always have a change of frame being fortunate & getting them at cost.Do go get your eyes tested Paul. I'm fortunate, my b-I-l is an optometrist. He used to work for Specsavers but changed to going out on the road to patients homes, those who are housebound, testing & providing glasses.
Have just read VisionAid’s site. They have stopped recycling glasses as not cost efficient ☹️
that one best that does false teeth
That's a shame, thanks for letting me know. It is a while since I needed new ones. I'll have to find another to donate to. Actually there was one but I forget the name. It was the charity that my b-i- l's ex b-i-l volunteered for performing cataract ops somewhere in Africa before he opened a Specsavers concession. Maybe my b-i-l will remember.
I donate my old ones to Oxfam as I presume they pass them on; but no idea if they actually do..
I've always gone to Boots for my eye tests. Never had an issue, but I've never had glasses until recently.
My prescription is very small but I took my prescription and ordered online from glassesdirect. Glasses are great and I can definitely tell the difference.
It's just £10 for the eye test at boots, and they sometimes have free vouchers if you are an advantage card member.
Varifocals need to be positioned correctly and so probably can't be bought over the counter or internet. I have nice glasses as I wear them all the time so are an investment. Face furniture ! I know it can be difficult but spending on 4/5 pairs you don't like might be more expensive than 1 pair fitted well?
medway you send prescription to them i thought they were very good but i understand peeps don't trust them the wife's one of them sent her prescription they came and they went same day cant understand HER
The prescription won't measure your eyes to make sure the varifocal is positioned properly. Lenses are made so that when we look ahead we see through one bit down its another and so when you read with varifocals you have to move your head up a bit. I have a pair of reading in bed glasses as varifocals don't work very well for me lying down. Ask your optician what he thinks as I think you're wasting your money on varifocals not made for you. So another solution would be to buy a normal vision pair and a reading pair.
I have also recently had problems with specs. I use specsavers and have never had a problem before, but we moved house and I tried a different branch. It was the first time I have tried varifocals so I was expecting it might take time to adjust. However, the first pair were just dreadful. I couldn't read anything clearly unless I put the book or screen about 6 inches from my face, no matter what angle I looked at it from. The lady doing the fitting was useless - she insisted I would get used to it, but after 2 weeks I took them back. The next pair are better for reading (but not perfect - to read anything on my laptop screen I have to tilt my head so far back that I get a stiff neck) but are worse for distance - I can read road signs better without them. They only seem good for distances between about 1m and 20m. I suspect that they have got my prescription wrong, so I'm thinking of having an eye test somewhere else to compare. Perhaps you need to try a new eye test?
After going to Boots ,Specsavers who messed up the balance of my prescription for varifocals got my money back. I now go to a family opticians who make them up perfectly and only a bit dearer than the chain firms. Independent every time
