Should I wait for 3rd Jab or go ahead with my booster?

I received an invitation for my 3rd Jab on 25th October and ha e tried to book every day since then, however the only response I get is 'there are currently no times available for this clinic's.

I've now received an invite for my booster so I'm wondering whether just to go ahead with that or keep waiting for the 3rd jab to materialise.

I'm on mtx and toc and was originally missed off the mvc list to to a cock up at my GP surgery.

I've heard nothing about a 3rd jab but have been offered a booster so have decided to go for it this Friday.I notice on the TV ads they're talking about those at risk having a booster( sorry can't remember the exact words used) 🤔

I had my booster before the invite for my third primary dose was sent. Just check it isn't Moderna as the booster is a half dose and the third primary is a full dose. The Pfizer doses are the same. If you have your letter for the third primary dose take it with you to try to get it recorded properly. Mine is recorded as a booster as the computer system wouldn't allow third primary doses to be recorded as such when I had mine, but I believe that has been changed now. I know I will be chasing the booster in six months time but at least I am triple jabbed for now.

This happened to me , as well . I asked my rheumatologist if I was eligible for a third dose . She said she thought I was and would write to my doctor to that effect . When the call for my Pfizer booster came ( after two AstraZenica jabs ) I went for it . A copy of the letter from the rheumatologist to my doctor , saying that I was entitled to a third jab , came a couple of days later . My 3rd jab was recorded as a booster . I will endeavour to get a 4 th jab in 6 months time , armed with the letter . I wouldn’t be surprised though if in 6 months time many of the “elderly” will be called for a 4 th vaccine anyway .I had a strong reaction to the Pfizer so I’m happy for now .

I brought this up with the rheumatology nurse in my appointment last Thursday. She is going to include it in her letter to my GP and copy me into it. If need be, in sixth months time I will try my luck at a vaccination centre armed with the letter.

That’s a good idea . I think I will do the same , although I will have to wait another 6 months before I have another consultation .

I'd get whatever is available now, Pfizer full dose jab is what you want, and chase a booster in six month's time. As others have advised take your letter with you. You can always consider just walking into a walk in centre with your letter without an appointment. That's what I did.

I waited and waited for dose 3 of AZ ( nothing available in my area) , finally got an appointment for AZ only to be told when I got there that Pfizer is advised because it gives better immunity (ha!) … so just go for it, take your letter with you xx

Yes, I would go for your booster, which is the same as the 3rd jab (if Pfizer)anyway but make sure they know you are immunosuppressed and that they need to register it as a 3rd primary vaccine so you will be called in six months for a booster, Take any paperwork with you.

The letter from Rheumatology never came so took the booster instead.

I had the 3rd jab (Phizer) on Saturday. I said to the lady administrating it that I didn't yet know if I was eligible for a 3rd primary dose and she said not to worry, I can have a booster in 6 months time if I'm told that I am which is also what my GP said.

The advice from NHSE is if invited for booster to have that and then get records amended to reflect it is a 3rd dose

Thanks, I'll book the booster and have the argument then 🙂

My 3rd primary dose letter hasn't been sent either despite me phoning the surgery to remind them. They mis-directed me to NHS 119 who weren't able to help. In the end I booked a booster and then asked for a 3rd primary at the vaccination centre. After showing them my rheumatology appointments and my repeat prescriptions app (20mg metoject MTX), they bent the rules and gave me the Pfizer dose and marked it on my record as 3rd primary. Bonus: no queue for this, unlike the booster queue for Moderna.

If you have evidence that you should have a third jab and a booster then go ahead with the appointment but ask that it be recorded as a third jab. That way you will still be able to get a booster in six months time

I find it so upsetting that there has been such confusion surrounding Third Primary Dose and Booster. Such large numbers of us have experienced uncertainty over this, especially those of us who might be considered 'borderline' cases, it seems to me. I have been CEV all the way through the pandemic, in receipt of gov. letters etc. ... and spent weeks trying every channel I could think of for personal advice on this matter. In the end my Pfizer Booster appointment came up, so I followed the advice given by two of the (several) med. advisers I had contacted to have what was offered ... but it doesn't answer what happens next.
