Yellow skin after injecting methotrexate!

So very random. I inject methotrexate and this morning I used my thigh as the injection site but now my skin is yellow around the area. This hasn’t happened before. Any idea ?

Yeah . Nothing to worry about it happens now and again it will still be absorbed . Frightened the life out of me first time 😁

Yep, happens to me too once in a while. I have had back/blue bruises too if I end up hitting small vein or something. But either usually goes away in few days/weeks. I find injecting in belly easier ( lots of fat rolls there...LOL!)

I just got told to alternate. Thighs and belly. But I asked I can just do belly.

Hiya RumMonkey, welcome. As has been said it does happen. So long as it's under the skin don't worry. Maybe try injecting into your tum, pinching the skin. Injecting into the thigh is usually less fatty & doesn't disperse the same way if that makes sense?

Just give it a go and see how you feel. The white rings on my thighs I sometimes got in the sun, did fade after a few weeks. Didn’t want you to think it left any permanent scarring 😬

This would happen to me occasionally when I injected into my thigh and also sometimes when I’ve been in the sun in a swimsuit it would leave a circle of skin that wouldn’t tan so I’d be left with a white circle. I changed to inject in my tummy and don’t get this happening now. I also get less after-sting when I inject in my tummy … cos there’s more fat probably 😆

Not too worried. It went away after a day. It was just weird. Now I know what to expect. Thanks for your reply.

It’s completely gone now. I just wanted to double check. I find it best to chat to people before I bother the rheum team as mine are super short staffed.
