Can anyone advise me on these results

Hello

Accidentally joined here a wee while ago whilst looking up cervical spondylosis.I don’t have Rheumatoid Arthritis but I am wondering if any of you could advise me on these results

Anti-Thyroidperoxidase. abs H46 <34 mIU/L

Anti-Thyroglobulin Abs. 10 <115 kI/UL

I have supposedly cervical spondylosis but have never had a proper diagnosis. These are from private blood results and I am wondering if these readings are just inflammation from my neck?

I would be extremely grateful for any help

Thank you!

Not that I am an expert in immunology but these tests are commonly done for thyroid issues, ie autoimmune disease where your body attacks your thyroid.

I have high Anti-Thyroidperoxidase abs and I've been diagnosed with hashimoto disease (my body is attacking my thyroid gland) and im on a low dose of thyroxine.

I dont think these are markers of inflammation. Again I am not a Dr so I would ask the Dr who requested these as to why they were done .

I don’t have RA, either, but that doesn’t mean we’re not welcome here 😉 (There are actually quite a few people here who have other forms of arthritis or rheum issue other than RA).

With the usual caveat of being a keen amateur with no qualifications whatsoever and too much time on my hands...my understanding is those results are for antibodies associated with autoimmune thyroid problems like Hashimoto's and Graves’ disease. The presentation of the results is a bit weird, but my reading is that the first figure is the level you had, and the second is the reference range as per the lab that processed it. So for the first one, the TPO, you got 46, but 34 is the cut off. For the second, you got 10, with anything under 115 being considered normal. When they initially test for inflammatory arthritis, they quite routinely look at other autoimmune antibodies, and they will also undertake specific antibody tests depending on clinical suspicion. Because I have spinal involvement, they automatically checked me for the antigen commonly associated with ankylosing spondylitis, in addition to antibody titres for ANA and ANCA which are prevalent in other rheum diseases other than arthritis because the markers for RA were all normal.

If you weren’t aware of them testing for thyroid problems, it wouldn’t surprise me for a private consultant to run them as standard to cover rheum bases, but the only way to know would be to check with the consultant in question. It’s also worth mentioning that elevated antibody levels are often not definitive of anything, particularly if only mildly elevated.

Glad to hear from you again don’t forget to join in with dspooky song club. It seems everyone is looking at high levels of immuno response. I had this last week from my last RA blood test. My consultant was looking at changes following my vaccination she wants to know what reaction we are having. Don’t be nervous about asking questions. I was at first but I have found that docs like showing off how clever they are which helps you too. Good luck.

Hi there!Just had blood tests erythrocytes sedimentation rate ESRwas my rheummy s interest as I have started baricitinib. For you and I it is pain rate. Most normal people are 0-30 ESR. When my meds stopped working I went up to 134. Christmas saw109 this week on new biologics 29 woohoo. However I now have teenage acne starting as immune system so low. So ask about your ESRas it shows if your drugs are working.

Good to hear from you. Hope you and yours are keeping well. Take care 🌈

Pssst ladies.....Elixa probiotic they say is a good send! It’s gluten and dairy free too.I used it two years ago after gastroenteritis for three weeks (had very low vit D and folate I think as why it lasted so long) I have a very bad rash across my nose and face and I’m hoping it clears going back on Elixa
