Imraldi pen getting stuck

I recently had a few probs with my adalimumab pen it was getting stuck in me and had to pull it out , I did report it then two weeks later it happened again so thinking it must of been the batch . Then tonight with a new batch it did it again and now I have noticed that where I have stored it in my fridge it might of been freezing the pen because there is ice on the back of the fridge . I can hear the spring making a strange noise when pushing the pen down has anyone had this problem as I don’t want to report it again when it’s prob the way it’s been stored .

Ask the nurse support people who is your healthcare delivery to come out. They can check the fridge, batch, and your methodology xxxx

Did you have a health care person come out and tell you how to inject, someone like healthcare at home? If not ask your chemist who us responsible for your delivery. They are the people usually to report problems too xx

I was always told in the past with my Enbrel and Humira pens to not let them touch the the sides/top or back of the fridge walls in case they froze. Hope you can rearrange them in the fridge and this helps you. Makes sense what you say as if there is some ice in the pen then it may not be able to trigger or retract the needle and could be getting stuck against it. It’s often hard to see as my injections pens had just had a tiny window showing the needle in the bottom of the fluid. Good luck.

I didn’t know that they are stored in the box but my fridge is useless and it freezes at the back and that’s where they have been kept so I’m guessing that’s the problem the needle sticks in me it’s as if the spring in it pushes in but doesn’t come back and the needle sticks in me and I have to pull it out myself .

What about taking the injection pens from the boxes and putting them safely in a Tupperware type box so they have some protection against drifting to the back? Put the Tupperware type box in centre of the shelf. I did that with my Humira’s to save space as I got 12 at once and found the boxes were getting a little damp at one point, but my fridge didn’t have an ice build up. Maybe they don’t come in boxes now?

Healthnet are who deliver mine (mine are Amgevita pens) and their nurse came out to show me what to do and how to store them. Ideally middle shelf of the fridge in the middle at the front. If you are at all uncertain at all about whether they got too cold or not you should not use any of the others... get them replaced. They told me I shouldn’t use them if this happened to me. They won’t be cross ... you won’t be the only one this may have happened to. Allanah is right about asking them to come out and check all. 🍀

Thank you I will

do tomorrow, I’m a bit worried now as I thinks it’s a expensive med isn’t it also that I haven’t myself any harm . No one came out to me I was shown a dummy pen and that was it .

Don’t be worried... they should have come out and done the training with you at the start. It isn’t your fault. We go on these meds when we’re in quite a bit of a state... not easy to remember everything and understand it all and do it all. What you tell them is that you came to ask advice on here and were told about storing it and you need someone to come and check it all and what you are doing or not doing ... like you ought to have had in the beginning. Arrange it for the day you inject so they can be with you to see what you are doing. 💕

Healthnet also supply my Amgevita pens but never specified whereabouts in in the fridge to store them. I’ve been keeping mine in a compartment in the door to avoid the cold spots/freezing issue ?? Thinking I should get a fridge thermometer and make sure. 😳

Hi 😁 given how adamant they were it is surprising they didn’t let you know. How odd. When they came out (twice) they had a computer with them and almost 30 mins worth of questions to go through ... including how to store it ... it definitely was not the fridge door. They were super specific about where to store it... centre of fridge to the front of the shelf. Perhaps just move them. 🙂

They were supposed to come out and supervise for the first 3 injections but only attended once. When I phoned to check where they were, they had no record and asked if I felt confident to administer the injection without them being present and I said yes. I told my rheumatology clinic but they didn’t seem concerned?! That was about 5 months ago 🙁 I’ve just ordered a fridge thermometer from Amazon !

Hi I am on this as well but I had a nurse come and show me how to inject and she also checked my fridge. Have you been told to take it out of the fridge about 15/20 minutes before you inject I found this advice very helpful. I do struggle with mine but that is because my hands and fingers are quite weak. I hope you get the problem sorted very soon xx

I take them out the morning of which I inject but that’s only from advice on here , because I find it quite painful

Hi - I had this happen twice and was told it was my batch. So when I injected the needed wouldn't engage! The liquid would spill out and not in. As for storage I leave in boxes right way so needles point down in my salad draw. Before using I leave out for an hour then inject. Hope you are able to sort. Take care - Hessie 🙂

Yes that’s exactly what mine do .

Hi, I am new to this site and was looking generally online to see if Imraldi is known to cause bladder problems (has anyone else found this?). I noted your particular post though, because I have found that unlike the Humira pens, I cannot use Imraldi ones on my stomach area; the needle end just sinks in like a cushion and doesn't actually inject. I am not overweight by any means and never had a problem with Humira pens. Also, I find these pens more painful to administer. I have even come to dread using them - I much preferred having a button to press as with Humira and the Humira was virtually painless. I do however now take the pen out of the fridge a few hours before using it as recommended in the instructions, supposedly to minimise the pain. Regarding your problem though, it would definitely be worth you buying a fridge thermometer and yes, I think it is probably safer to try and store the boxes in both the middle area of the fridge and of the shelf itself.
