Anyone had problems with high blood pressure.Could it... - NRAS
Anyone had problems with high blood pressure.Could it be related to RA medication?I take methotrexate by injection and cimzia.
since i've been on mtx my blood pressure has gone up. You might need a different drug to bring your blood pressure down. I don't know if ra and medication is the cause, but they are probable related. I'm on rampiral and my blood pressure is now back to a normal level. Have you tried getting a pressure monitor from the chemists and monitor it at home and keep a log of each score.

Hi Avjh, I've had terrible problems with BP for about 9 year now. Initially we blamed my medications but over the years they've been changed and BP is still high and uncontrolled.
I take 3 tablets for it now also, I've also been diagnosed with Kidney disease, were not sure what came first, high BP causing kidney problems or kidney problems causing high BP. I get my blood pressure checked every 4-6 weeks when having my blood monitoring done.
Do as Sylvi advised and buy a home monitor, I use one and to keep a diary for my doctor, sometimes people suffer white coat syndrome and their pressure shoots up as soon as they get into a doctors room.
Good luck, hope you get it controlled.

I do think I suffer from white coat syndrome. When I have my rheumy appt they take my BP and it's always very high.
I had a 24hour monitor recently and they added a second BP tablet but that doesn't seem to be working either.I thought about using a home monitor but if the readings were really high think I'd start to panic.
I've made a note of the name of your medication Sylvi just in case it's the one for me also.
Am seeing the GP on Friday so just hope she'll adjust my medication.
Thanks xx
i definetly think it has to do with the medication, always had normal to low but 4 months on arava it was high not on the dangerous side but high enough for them to take it a few times and want to keep an eye on it. Very annoying
My BP went high when I started taking Leflunamide (Arava) and now take 3 tablets for high BP. They are: Ramipril, Amlodipine and Clonidine. (Clonidine was initially prescribed for my 'hot flushes' but they also help control high BP).
I picked up on my high BP myself (but I dont know how I knew.) So I bought a home monitor which showed my BP was high and then went to see my GP who confirmed I have high blood pressure.
I was told by the nurse when she was doing my BP that just walking from the waiting room into the GP's room can cause blood pressure to rise, also BP is often higher in the morning than later in the day for some reason.
Hope you get it sorted soon
